"Melrose" Return Fast-Tracked for The CW

E! Online News has announced that the CW is fast-tracking all efforts to bring back Melrose Place as part of it's 2009 fall schedule.  Mark Schwann, writer for One Tree Hill, is penning the pilot script. Casting is slated to begin this month, with the final cast announced as early as mid/late January.

So - which former tenant of 4616 Melrose Place will show up in the new version? Rumors are swirling fast and furious over Heather Locklear, who played vixenous ad-exec Amanda Woodward. When the show ended in May 1999, we saw Amanda and boyfriend Peter Burns (played by current real-life boyfriend Jack Wagner) getting married on a remote island, as both were escaping their criminal pasts -Amanda for a murder rap during her teen years and Peter for embezzelment at Wilshire Memorial Hospital.

Since so many other cast members have since moved on to more memorable roles on other network series, it's going to be slim pickings to see which other former cast member (other than Heather) may drop in.

Also, the producers are stating that the new cast will be much more "culturally diverse" than it's predecessor.  I wonder if we could loosely translate that to seeing more GLBT characters that actually have full-on relationship with partners that they get to kiss and have sex with.  Let's hope so!

Until then, you can catch up on the 90's version of Melrose Place on DVD.  Seasons 1 - 4 are now available and season 5 (volume 1) will be released on Tuesday, February 10th.

Friday Hotness Extra: Bryan David Thomas

As I am in such a good mood today (I have the day off), I thought it might be a good idea to give everyone an extra post-holiday gift in the form of an "extra" Friday Hotness.

Meet Bryan David Thomas - a fitness model who was just awarded the 2008 Mate of the Year award from aussie gay men's mag DNA.

Bryan has graced the covers of several fitness magazines this year, but his most noteworthy was on the cover of DNA issue # 104.  His pictorals (and pectorals) speak for themselves.

For more on the DNA magazine award, check out the article at DNA Magazine Online.

For more info on Bryan himself, please check out the following sites: Bryan Thomas' Blog Site

Friday Hotness: Craig Horner

Here's a promo pic of Craig Horner from "Legend of the Seeker", a new weekly syndicated fantasy/adventure show, based on the Terry Goodkind series of books.  The show airs on most ABC-affiliate stations on the weekends.  Check local listings for date/times.

In the Boston Metro area, it airs on WCVB-Channel 5 and in NH, it airs on WMUR-Channel 9.  I would highly recommend watching it on a HD-compatible channel, if possible.

With the holiday season now officially over, most networks that were in repeat mode will now start airing new episodes as of this week.  The latest episode, entitled "Denna" is scheduled to premiere next weekend (January 10/11).

Episodes (standard resolution and HD) are also available for download via iTunes

Enjoy!

Breakfast with Scot (Premieres Friday, January 9th)
___________________________________________

Based on the book by Michael Downing (which I have read and loved), Breakfast is a heart-warming story of a Canadian gay couple, Eric (Tom Cavanagh) and Sam (Ben Shenkman) whose perfect life is turned upside-down by the arrival of Scot, a whimsical 11-year old boy that is placed in their custody after the death of his mother who was dating San's ne'er-do-well brother.  However, Scot is no ordinary 11-year old boy and his prescence will challenge everything Eric and Sam know about parenting and what it means to be a gay man in the 21st century.

Catch the trailer below:

Saving Marriage (Premieres Friday, January 16th)
__________________________________________

This documentary depicts the struggles to keep gay marriage alive in Massachusetts. After the
Supreme Court ruled to allow gay marriage in Massachusetts, an all-out battle ensued to change
what the courts decided was legal and just. This films shows the up-and-downs that occured during
Massachusetts Constitutional Convention and up to the final decision.

Tru Loved (Premieres Friday, January 23rd)
_______________________________________

Sixteen-year old Tru is uprooted from her comfortable home in San Francisco by her two lesbian moms to a more conservative town in Southern California.  While trying to fit in at school, she meets a closeted young man that asks for her assistance in becoming his "beard".  When she comes to the aid of another gay teen at the school, she decides to test the waters by forming a gay-straight alliance.  Her efforts will challenge everyone in the school and maybe - even Tru herself.
